A Note about personal StatementsHello! I got a few messages indicating confusion about personal statements. I am sorry if you felt you didn't have enough information to begin work on the assignment. If you all remember when Marshall came and talked to you about George Mason, he went over personal statements, and you all reviewed some when you were looking over applications. Simply, a personal statement is a personal essay in which you get to tell the admissions officers more about you as a person. Applications themselves can be very impersonal: most of the information you provide are grades, extracurricular activities, and basic demographic information about your family background. The personal statement provides you with space to really let the admissions officers see who you are beyond the numbers. If you click here, you can see some good examples of personal statements. Thank you all for your questions! I hope this helps. Let me know if you need further guidance.
